Chart of the day from Air4casts

This year the TFWA is celebrating 70 Years of Duty Free. To support the campaign today’s Air4casts chart of the day shows the corresponding growth in global air passenger traffic since Duty Free’s first shop was opened by Brendan O’Regan at Shannon airport back in 1947. The shop is still going strong and as for the change in air passenger numbers since those early days…..

A mere 21 million people boarded commercial flights to fly anywhere across the globe in 1947.  By 1977 that number had soared to 610 million.  And in 2017 the latest annual forecast is for a staggering 3.8 billion people who will board either a domestic or an international flight out of the world’s airports!
