Zurich Airport’s October Airside Spend per Departing Passenger

Today’s Air4casts Chart of the Day comes courtesy of Zurich airport and shows the 2018 monthly airside spend per departing passenger compared with the same month in 2017.

Total commercial sales turnover at the Zurich airport was CHF 51.5m in October, a 2 percentage point increase vs the previous year. Airside sales fared best within the mix, increasing 3.9%, compared with a landside sales decrease of -0.7%.

October’s airside spend per departing passenger was CHF 21.7 which represents a slight decline on the CHF 22.0 level of the previous October.

✓ 2018 October year to date airside spend per departing passenger stands at CHF 22.6

✓ The highest airside spend per departing PAX occurred in March this year at CHF 24.0

✓ Conversely, the lowest airside spend per departing PAX, CHF 20.9, coincided with the year’s second busiest month for the number of international passengers handled by the airport, the month of August.

✓ The busiest month for international passengers was July when spend per PAX hit CHF 22.7.
